Atlantic Ballet Atlantique Canada had its world premiere of Ghosts of Violence at Canada’s National Arts Centre in February 2011. The performance was the exclusive Canadian engagement of the full-length ballet for the season 2010-2011.

A landmark production, conceived and choreographed by Company Artistic Director and choreographer Igor Dobrovolskiy, the ballet is the result of a creative collaboration between Dobrovolskiy and Canadian theatre icon Sharon Pollock.

A showcase for the artistry and versatility of the critically acclaimed dancers of the Company, Ghosts of Violence is an emotionally charged work inspired by the lives of women who have lost their lives at the hands of an intimate partner. It is an innovative and poignant call for awareness, understanding and action.
Through evocative lighting, theatre, music and multi-media, the ballet captures the memory of these silent victims and tells stories of their struggles, their hopes, their joys and our loss.
